| | | | Android 4.4 Has been ported to PowerPC by eInfochips on behalf of an avionics customer that will use it for an HMI that monitors engine health. The port is based on Android Open Source Project code for Android KitKat and features Kernel 3.12.19.

| | | | e2v has introduced its highest ever performance space grade microprocessor. It is a space-qualified PC7448 radiation tolerant microprocessor based on a Power Architecture e600 core which runs up to 1267MHz.
It embeds an AltiVec SIMD engine, which allows the processor to deliver close to 10Gflop performance at full speed.
The QML Y certified GHz-class microprocessor will be used in space payload applications such as image processing on-board Earth observation and weather monitoring satellites, and data processing on Synthetic-Aperture Radar and telecommunication satellites.

| | | | The upcoming, still unscheduled, embedded PowerPC podcast will feature an interview with Josh Boyer, one of the Linux kernel maintainers for embedded PowerPC. Boyer focuses on "IBM/AMCC PowerPC 40x/44x/46x CPUs," according to his recent LiveJournal posting. He also participates with the Penguinppc.org site, which in addition to its ample resources, offers a nice concise introduction to embedded Linux and PowerPC issues in its FAQ. All questions regarding embedded PowerPC are welcome, says Boyer.

| | | | The Italian guys behind the SAM440ep PowerPC Mini-ITX board have released a poster, telling us that everyone will be able to try and buy their new hardware, at Pianeta Amiga 2007. The Pianeta Amiga-show will take place on September 22nd.
They say it will be available as both a complete system and OEM kit.

| | | | SceneCON is an annual meeting of underground computer artists who are members of the famous demo scene. With SceneCON, the organizers aim to follow the two decades old tradition of demo scene parties in Hungary. Yet, with a bit of a twist. This year's party was held from the 16th until the 17th of June, 2007. Among its highlights was an extensive demonstration of bPlan's EFIKA miniature mainboard running various Linux distributions as well as a work-in-progress version of MorphOS 2.0.
Luckily, the presentation was captured on video. The entire presentation has a total length of nearly an hour with MorphOS 2.0 being featured in the last 14 minutes of it. You may watch it by clicking one of the following links.
