| | | | Power.org had its first meeting in Europe last month. The meeting was held at MareNostrum - The Barcelona Supercomputer Centre - currently number four among the world's fastest supercomputers. The discussions were about different scientific purposes and about pushing the 'knowledge frontier'. Cell was presented and free download of Slimline Open Firmware (SLOF) was announced.
Genesi also attended this meeting and they are mentioned in the report.

| | | | In the latest edition of the Brittish magazine LinuxUser there is an interview with Bill and Raquel about the Pegasos and the PowerPC. Pegasos.org is also mentioned:
"We have people who booted up on January 2004 and have never switched off", he said. This is not a mere hyperbole. A quick look at the Netcraft statistics for Pegasos.org, a Swedish Genesi users' site on June 26th 2005 showed that the server - a Genesi Pegasos board running Linux - had been up for 405 days straight.
Thanks for this Bill and Raquel! We owe you one!

| | | | PUGS wants to remind you of the PowerPC Computer Party of the year - PUSH. On Friday - in just one week - the doors are open. Bring your PowerPC computers for a great weekend of fun.
The entrance fee is set to 300 SEK but if you pre-register you get a 100 SEK rebate. We recommend everyone interested to pre-register. The registration is not cogent, so if you cannot come, we won't charge you anything. It is a mere way for us to get an idea of how many people coming.
PUGS also attended AmiGBG presenting PUSH. We had a lottery where one happy winner would get free entrance to PUSH. The winner is.. Jonas Hofman, a member of SUA. Congratulations!

| | | | Sun covers a featured story today about the growing OpenSolaris community. Genesi is mentioned and Bill and Raquel are quoted.
From the story
"We predict that in the long run [the] OpenSolaris [project] will contribute more to the IT universe than [Microsoft] Windows or GNU/Linux," say pilot members Raquel Velasco and Bill Buck, general managers of Genesi, a leading provider of PowerPC-based computing products. "It will take time, but backed up by a consistent corporate strategy, Java [technology], the Sun Grid, and a pantheon of bloggers, Sun is destined 'to boldly go where no one has gone before.'"
