| | | | Last week IBM bumped up their i5 iSeries server family to the new 2.2GHz CPU POWER5+. Ian Jarman, IBM product manager for System i5, said this update was a few weeks ahead of schedule and that the p5 pSeries are next. The pSeries and iSeries pretty much share the same hardware. The pSeries are running POWER5 today.
Both systems run Linux on POWER or AIX 5L. i5 is the successor of the AS/400 mainframes and p5 evolved from RS/6000.
